Rubite: has a small general store, a couple of bakeries, a farmacy and a bar. There is a childrens play area and a small sports ground. The village occupies a rocky spur in a valley that rolls down to the sea with vines, olives and almonds covering the slopes. It is about 2500 ft (800 m) above sea level and is a labyrinth of steep streets, small squares and steps. Almost none of the villagers speak any English, so a little Spanish is useful. Mules, sheep, goats, dogs and cats are all a part of the village life.
